The Anchor 💗⚓️💗 – Edition 23

9/25/17

Dear Friends and Family,

On Thursday, September 21st I participated in a fashion show for The Wine, Women, and Shoes event.  The organization Breast Cancer Charities of America-i Go Pink hosted the event.  This amazing organization offers financial assistance to women with  breast cancer amongst other things.  They also offer Feeling Beautiful Again beauty packages for women going through treatment.  I signed up to receive a beauty package, it  contained eyeshadow, eyeliner, and Burt’s Bees products, etc.  Little did I know that the organization is located in The Woodlands, which is where I grew up.  I received an email from someone that works for the organization asking me if I wanted to be in a fashion show.  I thought to myself, “a fashion show is so not me”.  I thought about it for a few days and with a little convincing from my mom and friend, I decided, “why not”.  I emailed the lady from the organization and told her that I would participate.  My mom and I went to Dillard’s to pick out a dress for the fashion show.  I like things that sparkle, so I was immediately drawn towards a particular dress with sequin.

The evening before the fashion show, I had my wig curled at Artemis Hair Studio.   The day of the fashion show, I had my makeup done at The Beauty Lounge.  The makeup artist did a great job drawing in my eyebrows and adding my false lashes.

Everyone in the fashion show has been affected by breast cancer, so we all immediately had something in common.  We received our dress and jewelry that was selected by Kendra Scott.  We were not allowed to keep anything unless we paid for it.  Before the fashion show began, we “practiced” our modeling “skills” on the runway.

When it was my turn, I “strutted my stuff” on the runway.  We had a couple of stopping points along the runway where I would stop and “pose”.  The energy of the crowd was contagious and they were so supportive. 10 of my family members and friends came to the show.  Thank you AC, GB, BR, MP, MW, TW, TW, AS, TM, and SB for attending.  I appreciate your support.  Also, thank you PA for donating to the cause.

When the night was over we had to give the dresses and jewelry back.  The woman that oversees the event said that the dress was paid for.  I asked my mom, husband, etc. if they had paid for my dress and they said “no”.  I told the woman that my dress had not been paid for.  She called Dillard’s and they said the dress was paid for.  I am am not sure who paid for the dress and I may never know, but it was a nice surprise. Thank you, to the person that bought my dress!  I just need a cocktail party to go to now… Ha, Ha!
