Dear Friends and Family,
On Mother’s Day in Pittsburgh, my aunt and cousin participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. They wore their Team Jen t-shirts and celebrated my great aunt and me. It really meant a lot to me that they participated in the race to cure breast cancer. The video they sent me was really inspiring and brought tears to my eyes. I want to participate in October when the race is held in Houston. Who is with me? I participated in the race a couple times in years past.
Meanwhile in Houston, TW and I celebrated our mothers on Mother’s Day by taking them to brunch. Even though breast cancer is an unfortunate experience for any woman to go through, I would say that the positive of the situation is that I have become closer to my mom and mother-in-law. My mom and mother-in-law have supported me from the beginning of my diagnosis and have shown me nothing but love. I HOPE to have a child of my own after my breast cancer journey is complete and I HOPE to be like them and show my child the unconditional love that they have shown me.

My mom, dad, husband, and brother are my Chemo Anchors this week! The nurse did a double take every time she walked into the room because each time she came in, there was a different Chemo Anchor sitting in the ONE chair that is in the room. (You can only have one visitor at a time for safety reasons.) As she entered the room, I intoduced her to each new person! 🙂 She also asked my husband and brother where their shirts were and I told them that that had just come from work, ha ha! We are going to celebrate my 3rd treatment of chemo by enjoying pizza on National Pizza Party Day!
I am going to start adding posts to my blog that pertain to women that have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I do not have a medical background, but I can offer advice from personal experience, so if you know of someone that has recently been diagnosed or if you know of someone that has not gotten a baseline mammogram or mammogram please feel free to share my blog with them. Thank you!
Anchored in HOPE,
JW
